Opera - 2014 Season
From april 29 to May 6
After presenting Mercadante’s I due Figaro on the 2012 season and Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in 2013, the Teatro Colón completes Beaumarchais’ saga with the very beginning of one of the most renowned comic stories in the musical theater. Rossini and his barber’s spark will shine through this hilarious plot under the direction of choreographer Mauricio Wainrot—a man who can handle the stage like only a few can, and will venture into the genre for the first time.

Colón contemporáneo - 2014 season
June, Sunday 22nd
The almost tribal trance induced by this music represents its very essence. This piece is based on a single cycle of eleven chords promptly presented in the introduction and the end; each one of its sections develops with a stable pulse given by the pianos and marimbas, overlapping with the winds and voice melodies, which durations are determined by the tempo of the human breathing. The resulting range of psychoacoustic effects is unprecedented in Steve Reich’s previous pieces.
